If you are unhappy with the work you are getting out of AE, try working in a different program or renderer until Adobe or VC come out with a feature that you want to explore. On top of wanting to have a family, do personal projects, and work on blockbuster projects, Andrew is also expected to re-invent the wheel for AE. Whether the wait is worth it or not for any new products or tutorials down the line, this site and the folks who run it are not obligated to provide you anything. Videocopilot has over a hundred tutorials, solid products that open up what you can do in AE, and good free resources. Some of these recent comments are really baffling. I'm happy that more folks are getting in to this field, but it's tough watching people who have a lot more than we did rag on one of the cornerstones of the motion graphics scene. Maybe it's a changing attitude among people inside the industry or perhaps it's part of the mograph scene going through some growing pains. There are a lot of tools and resources out there to learn more post production skills than there used to be, and I feel like people newer in the game take it for granted how good they have it with modern hardware and resources online. This website used to have a real sense of community about it, and nowadays it just seems like there's a lot of folks who feel like they are owed new knowledge and tools from someone who has really given a lot to the community.

I still check in every once in a while to see if there's been an update to the blog and it's really disappointing to see how ungrateful and toxic some of the comments here are. I posted in this thread a while back and made my case to be patient with Andrew and that whatever comes next will likely be worth the wait. Someone will eventually step up to the plate. If we need an alternate source to have our needs met then I guess it is what it is.

I am still fully expecting that the software will continually be updated so my investment does not become obsolete. I do believe that his contribution over the years has been substantial, and he has earned the right to do whatever he wants. If Andrew has moved on from this project I certainly wish him the best. Perhaps it will never again be the constant stream of killer tutorials we have all grown to love. We need to evaluate our future expectations of VCP and AK.
That being said I can understand how frustrating it can be to see your favorite website sit idle for months at a time. We have bought into the culture of VCP, products and this website, so to be fair to the people who have supported Andrew in his rise to fame I do believe that we are owed some level of service through VCP in the form of content. But keep in mind that many of us have been following AK for many many years, we have purchased almost everything that he has sold. And for that, I suppose he needs to come through on his promises. Yes, he has said that he would be providing more for his followers. I also don't think that our expectations of him are necessarily fair. I don't think that it is fair to say that Andrew owes us nothing.
